RoboSense E2 is a fully solid-state LiDAR for robotic perception and spatial data capture. A SPAD-SoC receiver and 2D VCSEL emitter use electronic scanning, with no internal moving scanning parts.
The current E2 platform combines a published maximum 180° × 135° field of view with a range of up to 35 m at 10% target reflectivity. Its compact dual-optical-window design is intended for robots that need observations of nearby objects and the surrounding environment.
E2 supplies point-cloud measurements for a host-based perception system. Navigation, mapping and obstacle-response behavior depend on the host computer, application software, calibration and installation. Choose the hardware revision and operating mode around the coverage and update requirements of your project.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Product | E2 |
| Scanning architecture | Fully solid-state electronic scanning |
| Receiver / emitter | SPAD-SoC / 2D VCSEL |
| Maximum field of view (horizontal x vertical) | 180 x 135 degrees, manufacturer-published current E2 platform maximum |
| Range at 10% reflectivity | Up to 35m |
| Best published precision | 1cm (1 sigma) |
| Best published angular resolution | 0.375 x 0.375 degrees |
| Maximum point-cloud rate | 1,500,000 points/s, dual return |
| Typical operating power | No greater than 5W under typical operating conditions |
| Operating temperature | -40 to +85 degrees C |
These are capabilities published for the current E2 platform. Maximum FoV, finest angular resolution and highest point rate are not a single guaranteed operating profile. Specifications may differ by hardware revision or mode; confirm the configuration used in your project.

Integrate spatial observations into a humanoid robot perception pipeline. Mounting, field-of-view coverage and host algorithms determine how the observations are used.

Provide point-cloud input for a mobile platform, then validate occlusion, vibration, timing and sensor placement throughout the intended motion.
Gather depth observations around a lawn mower for host-based navigation and obstacle sensing. The complete robot requires its own control strategy and validation.
Record point clouds for mapping experiments, perception development and sensor fusion, with synchronization and calibration appropriate to the other sensors.
Evaluate E2 within the aircraft power, mass, thermal and mounting constraints before flight. Sensing data alone does not establish autonomous flight capability.
Match the electrical interface, supply, pinout, dimensions, sealing and mounting requirements to the exact E2 hardware revision. Do not apply E1, E1R or another LiDAR model’s wiring or protection rating to E2.
Obtain the E2-specific interface and software package for the supplied revision. Do not assume that a driver for another RoboSense model supports E2. Start by validating communication and point-cloud capture, then add calibration, perception and control software for the application.

RoboSense E2 LiDAR sensor | 1 |
E2 uses fully solid-state electronic scanning, a SPAD-SoC receiver and a 2D VCSEL emitter. It does not have an internal rotating scanning mechanism.
The current official E2 page lists a maximum 180° × 135° horizontal-by-vertical FoV. The supplied hardware revision and operating mode must support the coverage required for your project.
Up to 35 m at 10% target reflectivity. This is not a guarantee of 35 m on every object; reflectivity, geometry and operating conditions affect the result.
No. The best published precision is 1 cm at 1σ, a statistical specification. It does not establish an unconditional worst-case error across all modes, targets and distances.
Do not assume so. The maximum FoV, finest angular resolution and highest output rate are platform capabilities; obtain the supported combination for the selected revision and mode.
The manufacturer lists up to 1,500,000 points/s in dual-return operation. Dual returns describe possible range observations and do not guarantee the maximum number of useful points in every scene.
Typical operating power is no greater than 5 W, and the operating temperature range is -40 to +85 °C. These do not replace the specific supply, pinout, mounting and thermal requirements.
Compatibility must be established specifically for E2 and its revision. Verify the correct electrical interface and obtain the E2 software package before choosing a driver, cable or host platform.
E2 is a sensing device. Navigation, mapping and obstacle response require suitable computing, algorithms, calibration and complete-system validation.
The packing list contains one RoboSense E2 LiDAR sensor. Match any required interface hardware, connection cables, power supply and mounting components to your integration plan; they are not listed as included items.
